In a rapidly changing world, understanding the interconnectedness of global economies is more vital than ever. This forum will explore the lessons history teaches us about systemic thinking, the persistent challenges in balancing economic thinking with socio-political dynamics, and how to catalyse momentum for long-term, collaborative solutions.

Join us in London on the 5th of June for an engaging and insightful discussion with leading British and European experts as we explore the latest breakthroughs and challenges in these critical areas.

This is your opportunity to connect with experts, innovators, and fellow participants in a collaborative discussion about:

  • How historical insights shape today’s economic strategies.
  • The socio-political challenges that we face and innovative approaches to deal with them.
  • The transformative power of interdisciplinary thinking to foster trust in science.

Programme Highlights (complete agenda below):

Panel 1: Trust in Science

As we navigate an era marked by misinformation, climate crisis, and rapid technological change, understanding the historical and global dynamics of trust in science from multiple perspectives is more urgent than ever.

Panel 2: What is the impact of research on society?

This panel will explore how the transformative power of research and its lasting impact on society not only deepens our knowledge but also influences economic development, social justice, and global interconnectedness.

Roundtable: What problems have been resolved and what potential can connections with other disciplines bring?

As boundaries between disciplines become increasingly fluid, we have a unique opportunity to exchange methods, perspectives, and ideas. Let’s explore how cross-disciplinary connections have helped solve longstanding challenges – and how they might pave the way for innovation yet to come.

Whether you are a researcher, an academic, a  professional, a student, or simply curious about these pressing issues, your voice matters.

Special opportunities:

  • Attendees are invited to participate with a poster or video of your research. This is a unique opportunity to connect with researchers, clinicians, industry leaders, policymakers, and patient representatives, working together to drive meaningful impact for patients and society. There will be a £100 prize for the best entries in each category. Guidelines:
    Guidelines for video competition.
    Guidelines for poster competition.
    Competition submission form.
  • For those travelling to London, we offer travel reimbursements of up to £80 per person (limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis). Please keep your travel receipts to claim the reimbursement. Due to limited seating in the lecture theatre, we encourage you to register early.
